How come my recordable dvd disk only plays once?

I've tried playing it in 3 different dvd players and it won't play anymore. I played it in my own dvd player and it played fine. I tried to play it in another and it wouldn't play. It kept reading 'No Disk'.

  1. You could have a re-recordable type of dvd.  If you do or don't, put it in your computer and re-record over it and try again.

  2. it's probably knackered.

  3. There are two possible answers. Either you do not finalize the disc on your recorder/ player and because of this no other dvd player will be able to read it. Put the disc back into the recorder and figure out how to finalize the disc (on mine it asks me upon ejection if i would like to do so) if this is the problem then upon finalization you will be able to play it in most players. The other possiblity is that your dvd players do not support burned discs and therefore cannot play them. This is less likely as you tried it in several players. Lemme know if i can offer any other help

  4. your dvd player might not support dvd-r or dvd+r formats?

Try using the opposite of which ever you used, if you used dvd-r, then try burning the same disc on dvd+r. My dvd players like the +r's best!
