  1. The adapter in your laptop can only handle up to 54mbps, if you want 108mbps you need to buy an adapter that can handle that speed.

  2. your router is compaiable of 108 but your laptop is 54. so your will actrally be running at a speed of 54 it doesnt matter what your router says it doesnt effect you.

  3. Your router offers speeds up to 108mb/s,  The laptop has slighty older or less technology and only offers 54mb/s.

I would not worry about either though.  Your internet connection speed is usually around 3mb/s with cable.  That's it!  So if you get a new laptop, or wireless internet card, you will notice absolutely no difference in internet speed.  The only way you will notice a difference is tranfering large amount of data across the network.  Then you are still lookin at speeds almost 20 times faster than internet.  So you atleast get an idead of how fast 54mb/s is.

It will be a long time before internet service providers can over us speeds even close to 54mb, don't worry about it.  And if you are worried, you can plug it in with a wire to get 100mb/s
