i have a 1000 watt fosgate amp and 2 10" P1 subs. i have a optima yellow top battery. my ground wire for my amp is speaker wires. my deck is a pioneer. no capacitor. when i 1st start driving i can listen 2 my music as loud as a i want no problem. then after about 5 mins of driving my subs start 2 skip at high volume. so i turn the volume down 5-10 then the subs start 2 skip when i start slowing down (come 2 a stop). and if i am in park i can turn the volume up 2 the max. this happened before so i bought a yellow top battery but the problem came back. so i am very confused. what is causing my subs 2 skip?

  1. "my ground wire for my amp is speaker wires"

    this is your problem.

use a 2guage wire for the amplifier - from battery to amp and amplifier body chassis.

make sure ground wire is not more than 1.5 feet.

next problem which may causes this tripping(protection mode) is wrong gains...check your gains.

if the subs starts distorting turn down the gains to a level where they don't distort.

the main cause as i mentioned is " ground wire for my amp is speaker wires"

    change that at once!

    good luck.

  2. You might be pushing the amp too hard. Turn down your output on the amp to just a little over 1/2 way and see what happens. You should never turn it all the way up. I had this happen because I was sending too much power to the speakers. Goodluck.
