How come my vista laptop wont turn off??

it says logging off still after i pressed shutdown last night.....the batery is very low and somehow its still on how do i fix this?>???

Do you have a NVidia micro chip in your laptop? Because there is some epidemic with the nVIDIA chips for laptop.... Mine crashed [I have an HP] and I won't get it back till september 8th.... so just check with customer service....
