How come people all of sudden remember to lock their car doors when I walk by?

Are the people locking their doors white people?  I love how some white people are shocked that Black people call them racist idiots...because stuff like this happens ALL the time!!!   I'm 5'1, and I've had little old ladies clutch their purses when I walk by.

the media portrays a negative stereotype of african americans. you watch the news you hear about a murder , robbing or  what have you they state suspect is always an african american male. Rap videos don't help either but thats another subject for another time. However people who are not around or familiar with black people the  culture tend to believe what they see or hear and assume their in danger when one is around.

Everybody locks their car doors. If you don't you get your car stolen. I don't think it has anything to do with race.

Dude, don't worry about it too much.  I'm white, with a full beard and short hair and I wear heavy metal t-shirts.  They lock their doors the same for me.  It's always better to be feared than fearful.

I can honestly say I lock my doors when EVER i see a MAN walking towards me in a parking lot. It makes me feel safer..men are more intimidating no matter the color. Plus half the time if i am about to walk away and see someone walking to the cars i will double back to make sure my car is locked.. its like a reminder to get my stuff locked down.. i suggest you just smile at the people who are locking their doors and tell them to have a good day.. they may feel dumb if it is because of your race.

~~I honestly think people lock their car doors and you are taking it personal. Insurance doesn't cover some things if your car isn't locked. It's just coincidental that you are out there when they lock it. Walk through the lot and you'll see the doors are locked whether you saw them do it or not.~~
