How come people are like this?

Question

Recently a lot of change...My bf and I have raised my step d. for 3 years now and she nows lives with her mom who lives with her sister like right across the way. The daughter has seen her father, my bf like 3 or 4 times and doesn't even say hi or anything! I have seen her once and the same thing. This girl used to complain about wanting to see her sister that lived with her mom at the time and dad would let her see her. She has not came to visit her bros or us. We did what any normal American family does, she has chores, babysits when needed, not too much ect. I know now that she has no responsibility at all, she goes and comes as she pleases, the mother got out of prison recently, is this just a feeling of sorrow? Is it selfishness on the girls part? What is up? Why and how can people be like this? Why would this girl treat us this way? Is it something that she will be sorry for in the end? I guess it really just upsets me. My bf, has been really sad this is his oldest child, we have a two year and 10 month old.

You are not the first person to be going through this emotional roller coaster feeling that you mention. There are a lot of people out there no matter what you for them, they will give you a ( Kick ) once they don't need you.

There is no way you can know for sure that the next person you want to help will be like the Girl you helped. The best way for sure to handle another situation like this is to look out for Tell Tale Signs that the person do as well as your Gut Feelings. I'm sure you must have notice subtle things she did and just let it pass as nothing serious; it could be some thing about her behavior, some thing said etc.

Please  don't let your Experience with  her prevent you from helping some one out; and remember this chinese aphorism " The Lesson you learn when you are taken advantage of puts you at an advantage.

As a kid you want to forgive your parents no matter what they do. She might want to be close to her mom and even know her dad has always been there she still craves that love and attention. I am sure her mom feels bad about going to prison and leaving her daughter so she probably is letting her get away with everything. Try asking the mother about sometime every week so that your children can see her. This will get you back in contact and hopeful something will come of that. Good luck and try and understand she is only a child.

why dont you ask her? if you are concerned the only way is to ask her. the best way to show her that u care is to go up to her and ask. it may be something you never expected.
