I wonder the same thing sometimes, but then I feel bad for thinking that way.  I think it's because some people just weren't raised with common sense and don't know any better.

Sometimes people cant see the forest for the trees while they are ensconced in a situation. Usually this is because they are too caught up in the details and emotional aspects of the problem. It happens to everyone at one time or another, Grasshopper..

So many people, so many kinds of problems.   You have not been specific and it's not nice to call people stupid.  Different strokes for different folks everybody specializing in different fields.  If you mean math problems that is so hard for more than 3/4 of people.

Good question.  Some people are just stupid, but usually, people are just afraid to make a decision.  The idea of making a mistake and being held accountable for the negative consequences, or the possibility of upsetting someone with the decision, is enough that many people either won't make a decision at all, or take so long to do it that nothing ever gets done.

most of the time people already have the solution to a problem, but that simple initial solution is more difficult to deal with as opposed to looking for an alternative answer. as humans we look for that easy way out, which would be to keep looking for what was there all along.
