  1. because of the scum bags that defend murderers

  2. go hire one, then you will know

  3. Actually, the world is more complicated with Lawyers because most of what they do is prolong a legal investigation. It is good to have them though because they also provide legal assistance in today's modern and confusing world like you said. So to me it's 50:50

  4. From a lawyer.  If we win in court the client is unhappy because the other side wouldn't settle and there are expenses and court costs.  If we settle the client is unhappy because of the compromise and giving up the right to present the case to a jury for a higher amount.  If we lose, you can imagine.  A lot of people don't like lawyers because they never get injured and can't sue for lots of money.  People who get injured and get lots of money are crippled, disfigured and disabled.

  5. Everyone is essentially a law to themselves [ones feelings that they are right] lawyers merely capitalize on the diametric opposite.

  6. Well.... they get CLEARLY GUILTY people out of trouble when society wants JUSTICE.

They win STUPID cases that impact us all... like putting hot coffee between your legs at the McDonald's window

They make your life miserable with STUPID law suits that make it nearly impossible to run a competitive business.

Some of them (ACLU) use the courts to usurp the legislative process and bypass the will of the people

And they are usually rude, pompous, and ignorant

  7. The costs of their services, and the fact that they are professional liars.

Yes, there are much worse people in the world to not like.

  8. I think people feel taken for a ride when they see the hourly fees that lawyers charge.

  9. Lawyers have helped us in everything we needed, so I like them.

My parents used one to settle my deceased brother's financial affairs.  They were a big help, as his house wasn't paid for, he had debts, etc.  My parents would have been stuck with his debts otherwise.

We got one one time when I was in a car accident, the other party ran a stop sign, and sued my parents.  I was borrowing their car.  My dad only had to pay the lawyer $140.  They got a settlement of $1,400.

  10. Someone gave me this advice one day....

If ever you find yourself in a cage with a ferocious tiger, a hungry lion and a lawyer, and you are in the lucky position to be armed with a 45 colt loaded only with 2 bullets whom do you shoot???

    Answer:  Shoot the lawyer TWICE.

  11. People LOVE lawyers when they are acting on their behalf. Hate them when they have to pay them. Think they are clever when they do things on their behalf and think they are sneaky when they do things against them. Most lawyers get a bad rap because a lot of them go into politics. There ain't no slimier game in town.

  12. In theory you are correct, but in reality they are professional liars.

In pursuit of justice they distort facts, misrepresent falsehoods and will do or say whatever is necessary to win a case or gain advantage.

They often prey upon people's fear's and ignorance.

    They charge outrageous rates...

  13. The world is not more orderly because of lawyers. In fact the world is a lot more orderly where there's no modern urban civilization. It could be less comfortable but certainly more orderly.

There's a huge cast of lawyers abusing the humongous legal system for their own benefit (we have too many laws and none of them makes any sense). Lawyers look for opportunities to use them to sue one against the other and get paid for it (regardless of the result). I saw many of them in ER waiting rooms.

It's true that if people turn them down they can't do no harm...

And most politicians are lawyers. So there's something inherently wrong with that profession.

  14. One reason is that they use their knowledge of the law to get people favorable results that they don't deserve.  Such as getting off the hook for crimes they committed or to keep a spouse from paying a fair amount of alimony...things that the person is not entitled to and are hurtful or unfair to others.

Another is they create lawsuits simply to make money where there is not much reason to.  An example would be an ambulance chaser.

Third would be they run up a bill if you legitimately need one.

Generally, lawyers are used to take advantage of someone or they take advantage of you.   I hesitate to say...possibly they serve a purpose.
