  1. healthy food, is healthy food. sugar is bad. but as of callories, there is GOOD callories, and BAD callories. good callories is in healthy food. bad callories is in unhealthy food. your body works differently with healthy food, then it does to junk food. no matter what, healthy food as in fruit, vegies, fish, yogurt, most cereal, it IS healthy, and will help you lose weight if you don't normally eat it. it's healthy, there for it does good for your body.

  2. Fruit is not fattening. Yes they contain fructose but the body cannot use fructose as it is, since cells only run on glucose. As a result, the fructose first has to be converted by the body into glucose, which effectively slows down this sugar's effect on the metabolism. Some fruits, such as grapes, dates and bananas also contain pure glucose and are therefore faster releasing into the bloodstream.

  3. The main reason is that fruit is very filling per the total calories it gives you. If you pig out on apples until you're stuffed, you're eating way less calories than if you did the same thing with junk food.

You can gain weight from the sugar that is in fruit, but it's not as likely as eating unnatural sugars and junk food.

Furthermore, fruit also contains vitamins/nutrients that pure junk food may not have.

Also, fruit is a preferred food first thing in the morning (as part of breakfast) and right after working out. (100 percent fruit juice counts.) When you are in a fasted state (or just worked out), your body is ready to use sugar to replenish energy, and you're not likely to store any as fat then.

  4. Fruit has other elements that counteract the way sugar works in the body. the sugar is not refined, so the body handles it better, the fruit will often have fiber which helps break down the sugar, fruit is mostly water so the amount of sugar is negligible unless you are eating cases of the stuff...

  5. most people do not know that fructose is metabolized using a non-insulin dependent pathway.  fructose is metabolized in the liver and can be directly converted to a lipid there if liver glycogen stores are full.

however must fruits contain a variety of sugars.  so some of the sugar content will be from fructose, sucrose, glucose, etc.  never just from one form.  fruits that are high GI will contain the most amounts of glucose and the least amounts of fiber.

  6. avocados are very fattening not from sugar but from fat.  most fruit does contain other things which counteract the ill affects of the sugar like high water content and fiber.  but too much of anything is bad/fattening.

  7. The sugar in fruit is actually good sugar because it's natural.  Fruits are low in fat compared to chips, chocolate and other junk foods.  Not only that but fruit does have other good vitamins that your body needs to work correctly.  In turn though, a person can still eat too much of a good thing and become overweight or become malnourished.  Look at those that are strict vegans.  Vegetables dont give you the same vitamins and minerals that your body needs and gets from fish(omega-3), red meat(protien), or even white meat like chicken which also contains some protien as well.  They can actually be missing the vital nutrients that every one needs on a daily basis.

  8. The sugar is natural and everyone needs sugar, but it's best to have natural sugar. Fruits also have lots of other things that your body needs.
