  1. People are people, it´s from both sides. I do have a problem with footballers though. So often you see the guy goes down, acting, diving, shouting at each other and the ref. When the opponent wants to help the guy up that went down his hand got slapped away and shouting and swearing goes on. In rugby the guys get physical and the tention is high but the next minute they accept it. After the game rugby players goes and have a beer together and talking and laughing about the match. Footballers ain´t a good example for our children, sorry but it´s true. Football is also boa-ring, so often the match ends in a draw or many times no goals. Sorry to say but for me soccer is no good and your remark I can´t agree with.

  2. Probably football has become a drama class.I'm not bashing the sport but let's face reality here! Maybe they bash it because rugby is a much more dynamic, skilled and much more physically intense game and it doesn't have the international reciginition it deserves. Rugby is a great sport and only now is the sport going professional like other field sports (at least thats the case in Ireland at the moment).Go back 15-20 years ago and Irish players weren't professional.

  3. I can't agree with the "always" part of the question. There are some misguided individuals who feel they have to be arrogant, loud mouthed and down grading for reasons only psychiatrists would know. But the real sports fan, whose favorite sport is rugby, can appreciate the differences between any sports. They are the ones that will discuss the qualities that make one sport preferable to another. They are the to take note of. The others? Ignore them.

  4. I am not interested in football at all...so cannot muster the energy to bash it. I would like to point out that during the world cup we had hundreds and hundreds  of football fans here bashing rugby...and it actually seemed  they couldn't bear the fact that anyone could get any enjoyment out of watching something other than kevball.

They also seemed quite threatened by it.

  5. i love rugby and did enjoy watching football until the game changed into an acting class the players are to busy rolling around trying to get other players in trouble rather than playing the sport they so say love there is no respect in football no they all think them selves above the law of the game when this stops so will the slating

  6. I believe due to your "the players wear pads" comment you're talking about American football, while many of the responses are talking about Soccer (football many other places).  I am an American and a big football (American, Soccer and Rugby) fan, and I still play Rugby and soccer.  I hear people over sees bashing Am. Football, and I don't understand why rugby hasn't become popular in the US. There are a lot of differences in the two games, and it's hard to say one is across the board better than the other. I would rather play rugby than Am. Football because I dont like the way that the play stops every down. But that's just my opinion. In America many people bash soccer.  Which as of late is for good reason, I played soccer my entire life, I used to be on the field 7 days a week playing for 3 separate clubs.  Now when I watch the pro game I am disgusted by the acting and crying. The players have to realize they are destroying their own sport.
