  1. I believe there was a Jesus (not his real name). I believe he was a leader and possibly a Rabbi (though he would have had to have been married to be a Rabbi) who taught in the school of Hillel the Elder.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillel_the_...

I believe he taught peaceful resistance to Roman rule during a tumultuous time (a very long time ago) in ancient Jerusalem.

I believe that he he became a byword for I belief in forgiveness and even the "holy spirit" of his faith so that anyone who expressed the holy spirit could be a representation of him.

I also believe that he had little or no resemblance to the Jewish idea of the messiah (the warrior king that would return Israel to power) but that his followers wished to honor him by making that comparison.

I doubt that he was a "virgin" birth because the prophecy of a virgin birth and a son of god was not a Jewish idea but Greek idea and does not fit with any prophecies unless you include misquoted ones.

I believe that the faith in him can make people act well if they actually follow his and Hillel's teachings.

I also believe that the literal interpretation of the Bible has lead to some of the worst injustices in the world including but not limited to the degradation of our education system in many cities and states.

  2. If you could show proof, it does not mean one would be closer to believing. Many people only want further reason to to doubt, or show contempt. They as you may be satisfied in their belief.

Unfortunately, that much of the gospel of Christ has been attributed as folklore, by not being able to perform by them which profess it, and some of them that do profess it have been found to be charlatans, and some what they do in their personal life does not fess up. But them that fall away whether because of what another says or does, shall be judged on what they have believed! personally!

  3. Yeah I mean he incarnated himself on earth and required his incarnation to die as a sacrifice to himself, in order to forgive his flawed creation for the nature he gave it.  Why do you need anymore proof than that - RIGHT

  4. well here's what i can say

    sometimes people:

    -are blind

    -refuse to believe

-believe in God at First then turn their backs on him

-some people believe in "TO SEE IS TO BELIEVE"

-lastly some people don't really know about God at all

  5. How come pple as Ive noticed dont beleive in Allah?

I don't understand. I believe in Allah and that Mohammed is God and he died for our sins.

But why do pple need proof that this really happen in order to beleive it.?

  6. Why do I need proof to believe that the world is flat, we are all aliens from another world, and our main objective is to find a massive crystal in the middle of the earth?

    Of course I do!

Otherwise we would all be digging for our whole lives only to find a molten core instead of a crystal.

Proof is always needed for me to believe.

  7. Shouldn't people have a right to believe in whatever they want to believe ?

So as long as it doesn't bring harm to anyone else ?

  8. People are smart.

  9. Because people in general are selfish and want to do things there own way. When you accept Jesus you surrender your life to him and want to willingly  obey his rules.

So in my opinion that is why they want visual and physical proof because they dont want to give up there so called freedom for something that they dont have physical proof of.

  10. Why are you so willing to believe something without proof?  Humanity has created thousands of religions throughout history and you have picked one of them to believe in.  Why did you choose the religion you did, or is it that you were raised to believe it?  It's time for some skepticism in your life because it's very dangerous to accept what you are told at face value.  Ask your pastor/priest how Christianity came into fruition, and I don't mean the stories in the Bible, I mean the adoption by Constantine of Christianity in ancient Rome.  What were his political motivations?  Ask about the ecumenical councils and why they found it necessary to drop so many of the original gospels, and ask about why Christianity adopted many of the pagan practices from Rome.  Ask him why, if the religion is so correct, did they have to change so many details of it over the Centuries, then ask him why you aren't using a gnostic bible.  See how much he can tell you, if anything.

  11. If they cannot eat it, then they don't believe it:

1Cr 6:13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them.

  12. It's straightforward common sense that you don't believe something for which there is no reliable evidence.

  13. Seriously?

Why DON'T you need proof to believe that?

  14. If you don't need proof to believe, then why don't you re-believe in Santa Claus?

  15. There seem to be 2 types of people in this world. Those who question: those who don't. Fortunately, more are in the former category or we would still be in the dark ages.

  16. Why don't you believe in the tooth faerie, or Santa?

  17. You know, there are people who don't believe that life on earth evolved over the course of millions of years. I cannot figure out why they wouldn't believe it, since it's true.

There are people who don't believe thet there is anything out in space beyond our little galaxy. I just don't get that, either.

Stuff YOU believe is not necessarily stuff other people believe.

For instance, if you said, "That girl is really pretty," and you really believed that she was really pretty, you could hold onto that belief. But there could be people who thought she was buck ugly. And they couldn't understand how you could believe she was pretty.

    You get it?

    -Stuart

  18. Because if you take the time to actually think about it, it makes no sense. Magical sky guy who grants your wishes? M-hm.

  19. i don't know. i just don't know. they have stiffened their haerts at truth, when it stares them in the eye...

  20. And you believe just because someone told you to???

I have this bridge you might be interested in.......

  21. I need proof because I actually care whether or not my beliefs make logical sense.  Perhaps you just care about believing whatever makes you feel good.

  22. Why do you need other people to believe this? This is your belief.

  23. Actually they choose not to believe in anyone greater than they perceive themselves to be, therefore no matter what proof they have they'll never believe.

  24. Because as much as Christianity wishes it to be true, we don't all think alike.  If Jesus is your lord and savior, I'm happy for you.  Now, let me be happy with my religion too.

  25. because we are all entitled to our opinion

and we are all entitled to be shown evidence of soemthing before we believe it to be fact and truth

just because soemone else believes it doesnt mean we all should

and just because soemone has their own expectations and reasons doesnt mean we all have the same expectations and reasons

soem people need proof, some dont

we are all different and we are all entitled to believe what we do

  26. The historical evidence is that the Jesus story is fiction.

There are a number of historical accounts and records of what happened in the Roman provence of Judea in the 1st century, and none of them include the events described in the New Testament.

In particular, there was no census that resulted in Joseph and Mary travelling to Bethlehem, there was no star of Bethlehem, there was no murder of the innocents by Herod, there was no holy man with hundreds of followers who travelled around Judea, there was no trial of Jesus by the court system of Judea (or anything like it), there was no earthquake, opening of graves, eclipse of the Sun, etc. at the death of Jesus.  None of these events is recorded in any historical record or archological artifact, and if they had actually happened, they would have been noticed and recorded by numerous historians and scribes.  Many lesser events happening in that time and place were so recorded.  In fact, the New Testament is based on religious stories written in Greek a century later.  So why should I believe and live a religious fiction?

  27. We are built on a society where proof is important, without it we are told it can't be true. Why is it that ppl don't believe in Santa or the Easter bunny when we hit a certain age? Our legal system is built on evidence, in order for things to have happened we need proof. Yes, there is a book, the bible, but could this just be a work of fiction? Also with so many translations, things are sure to be missed. A case of chinese whispers? There are just too many questions with the theroy of God and not many answers.

  28. Because I believe in God, not Jesus to be God.

I don't understand why YOU are the one who is lacking brain cells.

    God does not die

God is not imperfect, He doesn't need 3 parts.

Jesus sais "the title of God is not mine, but that of who sent me"
