It also makes school more boring without all of the fun stuff :) I dont focus on things like that and i probably wouldnt even if my school allowed them. Im a staight A student and have had good grades for all my years in school so it be fun if we could have some more freedom. BTW stty for all the added detail

  1. I know exactly where you're coming from. I've gone to Catholic school the past 9 years (K-8) The thing that bothered me most is the shoe rule! We could only wear black, white, blue or grey shoes! We had all the rules you listed above. The boys at my school made a petition too, and it didn't pass either :( The way I see it, peoples' hair color and shoe color never hurt anyone, there's a lot of rules I still don't understand. I start catholic high school next week...... just 4 more years....

  2. Your dress code is not unusually extreme! That is the code most private schools follow. Although it sucks, you have to remember that your parents are paying big bucks for you to go there (unless you're there on scholarship) .. they want to make sure your parents are getting their money's worth!

  3. If everyone looks pretty much the same and no one is standing out from the crowd, it takes away stereotyping and any pressure to buy the newest and coolest things.

Even a double ear piercing or long hair can make someone look cooler than another, even though I admit your school dress code seems to be unusually extreme..lol.

But if you take away outer appearance, it's easier to make friends based on their personality, not their looks.

It's like a really extreme way of implementing the concept that it's what's on the inside that counts.

  4. first off its a little flamboient that you want ear percings and hightlights as a boy. Schools are strict b/c parents pay good money so angsty teens like you can't bother there kids and education. school is for learning not being retarded

  5. Not all private schools have that many rules, but every school has some. And I'll bet the dress code is the biggest headache of all for every school! Kids love to be different and express themselves differently than their elders do, but their elders have a reputation to maintain and want to keep order. Some of the rules may seem silly or mean-spirited, but most of them are there for reasons that have been carefully thought through. It's a very, very tough area and everyone has a different idea of what the rules should be. Try to work within the system to make changes you want to see; and if you can't, try to live with what has to be. Be glad you're not the one who has to talk to all the parents about the rules!!!!

  6. My daughter attended private school all of her 12 years and believe me, she survived the regulations.  We sent her there so she could concentrate on school and not being caught up in these fads.  She has now graduated college and doesn't care about any of those things.

Hang in there, you soon be able to do as you please and will probably be pleased not to do any of them.

  7. These rules are in place because you are there to concentrate on your academics, not fashion trends. This is not that big a deal. Many of the things that are popular now will be out of favor in a year or two. Besides, in twenty years you will look back at your high school yearbook and laugh at what you thought was "cool."

Trust me, I had a rat tail and shaved the side of my head in high school (ala Aimee Mann in the video Voices Carry). I looked ridiculous, but at the time I thought I was edgy.

When you graduate high school and go to college, you can pierce, tattoo, and highlight to your heart's content. Don't be surprised, though, if you find that your employment opportunities are limited if your body art is highly visable.
