  1. Waste in landfills can act as a natural fertilizer for landscapes.  When a landfill is no longer needed, sometimes they become parks, ball fields, or golf courses.  There is an old landfill near where I live that was transformed into a very large and nice driving range, practice facility, and mini golf putting course.  It's a practicle use for the space when it is no longer needed.

  2. because they are not ever going to be zoned for residential or commercial purposes because of the health risks associated with them, therefore all you can do is place parks or outdoor facilites that people will not large amounts of time in enclosed spaces, trapped withthe chemicals and gasses.

How about this course... http://www.bayonnegolfclub.com/ ...

150,000 to join, built on a landfill in bayone new jersey

  3. Yes I have noticed that! also many golf courses become dumps as well! funny enough!

  4. It makes a good size golf course

  5. Because of the acreage and how most golf courses are environmentally sound and a good way to clean up the area.

  6. Hmmmm

  7. Closed down dump sites don't make very good foundations for buildings because of the contents under the surface.  Also because most dump sites, after they are full and covered up with top soil, will produce methane gas that will eventually surface, some sort of 'open air' facility is the best candidate for the after-life of these sites.  Of course, Golf courses generate revenue and is one of the top picked options.

  8. I think its a statement on most people's golf game...pure garbage.

  9. Once the dump is full there aren't too many other things you can do with the land.  A golf course generates revenue and habitat for birds animals, so it is a good use of the property.
