How come regedit wont open i try to open it and says i another program is currently using this file HELP!!?

Please help HOW DO I KNOW WHAT FILE IS USING IT? OR HOW DO I CLOSE IT?

  2. You can download and install Windows Process Explorer from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysin...

    Windows Process Explorer allows you to see a "tree" of file processes, what files may depend on another file at the moment.

    Then you can right-click on and "kill process" the file that may be accessing regedit at the moment.

    It may/may not work in your case. Good luck.

  3. Is it maybe running already? Go to your task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) or (right click on your start bar on an open space) see if the process 'regedit.exe' is running if so end it... Maybe try scanning for spyware (my favorite tool 'SuperAntispyware') also for a more maintence free computer use CCleaner you can go to filehippo.com to download these both! hope this works!
