  1. running backs can only wear 20-49

and the reason why you see all those single digit numbers is because it is preseason and the players still haven't been assigned their numbers

  2. When you see receivers with single digit numbers, or numbers in the range of 10-20, the team usually has a lot of players already wearing the numbers 80-. They probably made him change it because Running backs can only wear 20-49.

  3. i don't know he should ask to change his number

  4. the nfl's numbering system. edgerrin james wanted to do the same thing and the nfl considered it when bushwanted to...but ther g*y soooo they said nope.

  5. They made a number system to make it easier to identify the player. Kickers, punters, and QBs are they only ones that can have a single digit number but when bush came into the NFL he wanted to wear number 5 but they still didn't let him have it and if you saw a receiver in the preseason with a single digit number then they are trying to get a spot on the roster for the regular season. Also there used to be a player that wanted a number but he couldn't have it so the team put in another position that he never player so he could have the number he wanted but the league found out and they didn't let him have the number.

  6. The NFL set up a number system to help the refs on penalties and the receivers who wear single digit numbers are probably fighting for a job on the team however he can wear whatever number he wants.

  7. The quarterback is a back too? That's a 1st. Sorry to break it to you but your logic is flawed there. Every position has a limit to the range of #'s they can wear. I will say this, if Bush turns out to be what I believed he was when they drafted him (ie. a over hyped, but very talented Eric Metcalf) he might have a move to WR in his future and could be #5 at that point. Typically single digit #'s are for QB's, K, P, and WR's.

Heck Bernie Kosar wore #20 in college at Miami but nobody was going to mistake that lead footed for a runningBACK lol. He was #19 in the NFL.
