11 year old special needs boy pushed down stairs at school by bully and now paralyzed and the superintendent couldnt look into because he was on vacation. if the power goes out at my work, I have to show up vacation or not.

So I would think a child is more important, but not to those who we trust with our kids. They are even trying to cover the whole thing up. This happened March 11th and was only reported to police this weekend

  1. This doesn't surprise me a bit... so sad

  2. The school won't be able to do much until the police finishes the investigation and the superintendent can not interrupt the police investigation without facing charges.  I want to know why the the teachers and principals weren't aware of the situation prior to this day.  The staff should have recognized the signs of bullying and taken action.  It's going to take a high dollar settlement before the schools really get tough on bullying.  It's time to get the kids out of schools and press charges so that their parents are held responsible, too.

  3. sorry but this doesn't surprise me much either. it makes me sick. I have home schooled my children for the past 10 years, following a 5 year law suit with my public school district. My son has autism. this story is not that unusual. I was hoping that things had changed some in the past 10 years but I guess they haven't.

  4. I am not aware of the details in the case, but normally, the superintendent would not be the one to investigate.  Quite frankly, looking out for the students IS an administrator's best interest, so I think your original question is misleading.

I am not aware of any school that has no policies against bullying.  However, unless children reveal to adults that bullying is occuring, it can be difficult to see it.  There are not many bullies who are foolish enough to act where teachers or admintrators can observe them.

Why did the family not report it to the police when it happened?  If it were my child, I'd be suing the parents of the perpetrator.

  5. My blood ran cold reading that story.  I caught the end of it on the tv news, I didn't know what the whole story was.  I pray the boy fully recovers and the Mom gets a good lawyer with rabid tendencies.

  6. if teh super didn't want to interrupt his vacation-he should have appointed someone to act in his absence and at least be available for a phone conference

I used to work in the public school and saw outragious disregard for helath and safety
