I don't know about other people, but for me I don't care because I believe in GOD and believe that HE's in control of everything...so why should I be concerned about global warming...and I'm not trying to offend anyone...

World leaders are not too concerned with the well being of the masses ,on the contrary .it was stated at a conference in Copenhagen,in 1998,by an American statesman , that the Agenda demanded a decrease in the world population of 60%,and you cannot achieve this if you start saving everybody.

Some Scientists who get paid by politicians or Oil Companies ,have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and to admit to the reality ,means change .

Change effects many peoples incomes,and upsets profit margins,

We may be kept in the dark of the real things that are going on.for political , economic and even religious reasons.

There appears to be a giant propaganda machine operating that deals in misinformation,and skepticism.

Designed to prevent change and allow present behavior to continue ,such as deforestation,desertification ,over use of water ,irresponsible management of natural resources etc.

People who are in cahoots with the Environment ,who wish to conserve it ,preserve it and be responsible about using Natural resources are insulted ,ridiculed ,suspended and Global Warming has now been demoted to a conspiracy theory.

just for fun i asked a question in polls and surveys and again in religion

who thought Global warming was a lie ,and who was religious .

granted many people who believed in God and also believed in climate change .

but

the fact emerged that ALL of the people who denied Global warming ,who said it was a hoax ,were without any exceptions ,religious.

Global Warming disagrees with what was written

Many People are used to fiction and they feel more comfortable with fairy tales instead of the truth.

Many believe that our fate is in Gods hands ,and they prefer to focus on the beautiful heaven that awaits.

It would be Ironic ,if h**l came to Earth instead ,and we would NOT have to die to get there.

OR

Having to accept that  God either lost control, does not love his people any more and wants to punish them all ,or is  incompetent ,is not easy

because it's a hoax, in 1974, we were almost out of oil...it's over 30 yrs later, a few years ago, we were in an ice age, now it's global warming.  people count on Americans being idiots and believing the next moneymaker doom machine.  think for yourself, we can';t even predict the weather or hurricanes, tornadoes, or stop the rain, how can we change the temperature?

and I am in 6 grade, and I learn wayyy to many about Global Warming!!!!!! So many places pollute especially the US, car companies, and factories!!!!

Man, people need to stop polluting......

Also I am working on a cirty of the future after Global Warming in the wayyy future... so yea... I care.. =]

Since global temp can only be estimated and is based on computer model ONLY, and is not measured,  this is a strictly academic question.  More CO2+H2O=more plants=more food. Its interesting that people think this is bad.  Also, Al gore say’s GW is a consensus of the scientific community.  George Bush had a consensus with other countries that Iraq had WMD's.  Does this mean AL is as smart as George?  How smart are you?

How do we know that global warming exists?  Because Al Gore, who could not pass in college, says so?  For every scientist that says global warming is fact, there is one who says it is a hoax.  Since the world was formed there have been periods of warming and cooling.  We were supposed to be entering a new Ice Age in the seventies and I have heard no one ever confirm that it came and now we have warming but I have not heard any credible person, except for former politicians and movie stars, who say that there is global warming.  And the only people stupider than either of the above are the ones that believe them.

Yes, there is a very small amount of it occurring,.

However, the changes are within the range of

normal. For every scientist who believes in

Changes like these have occurred  for

decades. How do you explain temps in the 1930's

this year from all the hype this "crisis" (sarcasm

So many people don't care about man made global warming because they truly believe it's a joke. Even the people who cry and moan about the decline of the world, still go about their business as usual. If this were an actual problem, they would do everything in their power to change things... and this does not mean, turning off a light or recycling soda cans. They would use absolutely nothing that involves polluting the earth. this includes eating food from large farms, heating their homes with anything other than solar heating.. and no electrical backup on cloudy days. they would not drive their cars.. as a matter of fact, they would sell them and use a bike but not with rubber tires.. sorry.. petrol based.  And I could go on and on. The point is that as long as a person uses anything that causes a so called carbon footprint, they are denying global warming.  And if they really don't care, they don't truly believe. Don't believe they hype. Do your homework. A consensus of scientists is not science.

It's an ugly truth that the majority of the world is more concerned with finding enough to eat to stay healthy. Global warming is pretty much an over-the-horizon problem for most of humanity.

because it isn't unnatural, it isn't a problem, and there is little to nothing we can do about modifying the climate.  

So I put my energy toward things we can do something about and that there is clear evidence to show the existence of a real adverse impact, like poor urban air quality, groundwater degradation, depletion of the fisheries, acid rain, poor wastewater treatment, wasteful consumption of limited resources, and so forth.  Throw the money where some good will come from it.

I don't want to get into any name calling in my answer.  Calling some people dumb or worse doesn't answer your question anyway.  Many people touched on a big part of the answer.  The testable proof of the theory just isn't there.  One side states a very compelling case that warming is going on and that it is caused by man's influence.  You read that alone, and you are convinced it is true (think of Gore's movie for example).  Then you read any of a number of books published to disprove the GW theory and you realize a WHOLE LOT of evidence that tends to disprove GW is "inconveniently" not included in the stories trying to say GW is occurring and that it is man-made so to speak.  If the GW event was correct and readily testable/prove-able, there would not be such a great amount of disagreement on the topic.  GW supporters are extremely dishonest when they state there is consensus among the scientists, there is not, as sprinkled mentions in your many answers here attests to.  Why are about 50% of people Democrats and the other 50% Republicans?  Neither side obviously has a lock on the truth and the "right" plan for the future of the country.  People disagree.  Obviously neither side has ALL of the best answers or we would only have one major party in this country.  

Personally, I am skeptical about GW, but not totally a disbeliever.  I have a 2KW solar array on my roof, mostly energy efficient everthing in my house, one car that gets 30+ MPG on the highway, etc.  I do believe there is no reason why Americans should use 2 or 3 times the energy per person in other advanced countries.  I do believe we should develop alternative energy supplies and stop importing any oil from the middle east.  As individuals we can all do our own part.  Up until now, unfortunately, our government is not doing what it could to improve the energy efficieny of our country as a whole.  Fleet MPG of major vehicle makes should be improved, although with carrots, not sticks.  (Give very high MPG vehicles a tax break on April 15th each year they own the car and have tags and insurance on it and put a surcharge on gas hogs and a nickel a gallon gas tax to fund it, etc.)  Mandate better efficiency on all electronics from clocks to VCRs, computers, tv's, etc.  There are literally hundreds of ways to lower average energy useage per person in the USA and we are doing almost none of them.  Sad.  Write your local representative.

well, hello! We are the cause of global warming!!!!! We pollute our lakes and oceans. And we litter. We cut down trees. Here's a little cause and effect chart i made:

Too inconvenient.  Our society is about comfort and instant gratification.  Global warming is not affecting our day-to-day lives and doing anything about it would require changing our habits.  To prove this point, think about all the things we refuse to change even when we know they are negative: cigarette smoking, littering, eating unhealthy food, refusing to exercise, living beyond our means, and the list goes on.  We humans simply don't like to have guilt imposed on us, either.

The other reason is that people simply don't believe it's a big deal or don't believe that man is the cause.  My brothers are both petroleum engineers and they are certainly biased to believe what the scientists on the oil companies' payrolls have hypothesized.  

Finally, many people truly believe that man has an entitlement to the world and everything in it.  They don't want anybody interfering with this "right."

Some of those who've already answered are right -- people who don't care about global warming as selfish.  Most think only of themselves and their profits.

About whether or not global warming is real: oh yeah, you better believe it!  I'm almost 40, and it wasn't this hot when we were kids!  We didn't need fans while we were in school!  Nowadays, kids will get dehydrated if they weren't provided fans to cool off in school.  Every year, we notice an increase in temperature, especially during summer, so, yeah, global warming is real.

Because it's a good thing.  Since humans don't cause climate change, there's nothing for them to feel guilty about anyway.

History shows the planet is much better off during the warming cycles, so there's really no reason to get so upset about global warming.

Besides, it'll probably convert back to global cooling in about 10 or 20 years.

No one really knows, but I know I prefer warmer weather.
