  1. Uh, there's a DH in the AL, but not the NL.

    Duh...

  2. NL matchups have the pitcher batting, AL teams have the DH in place of the pitcher.

  3. in the mlb there is a dh in the american league and there isnt in the national league. in interleague play, they play by the home team's league

  4. In the National League there isnt a DH

in the American League there is a DH

  5. Only the AL has the DH(designated hitter) rule

but when the AL team is visiting the NL team, then their is no DH rule

if the NL team visits the AL team, their is a DH rule.

  6. There is no dh in the N.L., while there is in the A.L. Although when the idea was first proposed in 1934, the N.L. approved the dh, but the A.L. did not, so the dh was not immplemented.

  7. The reason this is is because there are different rules in the national league, and in the American League.

In the American league, the pitchers do not have to bat, and in there place, they can replace the pitcher with the DH.

In the National league the pitchers have to bat, so there is no replacing them with a DH allowed.

So in case that didn't clear it up, here:

American League Team Vs. American League Team = DH's bat, not pitchers.

National League Team Vs. National League Team = Pitchers bat, not DH's.

American League Team Vs. National League Team = Pitchers bat, not DH's.

So if the National League team plays in anyway, the pitcher bats, if not, the DH does.  Hope this helped.  -Matt

  8. In the American League there is a DH, designated hitter, so that the pitcher, who usually isn't good at batting, doesn't have to bat. In the National League the pitcher does bat, unless it is late enough into the game that they can pull him for a pinch hitter. Also, in Interleague play (between a National League team and an American League team) it depends on whose home field the game is being played on. For example if the Pirates were playing the Yankees at home, there would not be a DH, so the pitcher would have to bat. I hope this helps.

  9. well in the national league the pitcher bats instead of having a dh but in the american league the pitcher doesn't bat and they have a dh and when the national league and american league face eachother if ur at the american leagues stadium both teams use a dh but if ur at the national league teams stadium both teams use the pitcher

  10. In the National league, the pitcher bats.  In the American League, the pitcher does not bat so they replace him with a Designated Hitter (DH).  The DH does not play the field.  He just hits when it is his turn in the batting order.  Usually in June, the baseball schedule has what they call inter league play.  this is when an American League team plays a National League team.  If the game is played in the National League's stadium, both pitchers bat.  If it is played in the American league's stadium, both teams use the DH.  You play by the rules of the home team.  Also in the World Series, it is always a National league team against an American league team.  When they play in the AL team's stadium, the DH is used, in the NL stadium, the pitchers bat.  If you want to see which teams are in the National League and American League, see this link.

  11. what league they play in if there in the nl they bat al they dint
