How come the Democratic Convention had so much more colors and cool hats than the GOP convention?

I've noticed the same thing; the GOP stage is small and bland, compared to what they had at the Pepsi Center. Perhaps the Republicans are short on cash since they are so unpopular at the moment. I bet, if the religious right had not held them back so much in the primaries, Rudy would be the nominee and they'd have a much stronger candidate and the money that goes with it.
