  4. too much wildlife...imagine in the 100m sprint is underway and Bolt gets taken down by a cheetah. ouch

  5. how come they've never been held in Asia?

  6. has there been an African country that's had the same name for four years in a row?

  7. Because Africa sucks

    PERIOD

  8. LankaSam is right.

I'm still in disbelief over the first poster.

  9. Not sure but maybe it will be in the near future

  10. The beijing watercube alone caused 200 million dollars to build. How much more with all the other facilities that a host country needs to construct. Africa can never afford that. Well, maybe someday. But right now there is no way.

  11. perhaps South Africa will be the first country in Africa

  12. Africa has never had the ability to fund an Olympic games.  Countries like Egypt or South Africa could possibly host an Olympic Games nowadays though.

  13. Their culture doesn't call for financing all the facilities it takes to hold an Olympics. The whole continent is rich in natural resources, but developing them and becoming like other countries who can host the games is not on their priority list.

  14. Well the country wanting to hose the Olympics first gives a bid to the International Olympic Committee (and believe me, a lot of countries bid). And then based on that, the IOC sees whether or not that country will be capable of hosting the Olympics. Maybe the IOC felt Africa wasn't ready for the Olympics even if they had bid before. Oh, and to the person who asked why they haven't been held in Asia, they have: 1964- Tokyo and 1988- Seoul, and now 2008- Beijing,,,

    Hope that helps!!!

  15. beacause africa is poor plus there are not that many african contendors in alot of the events.  They were going to try it but the bambo palace didnt hold up plus the swimming hole whitch was a lake was dryed up

  16. Not just money, poltical stability is one of the major concerns, you will not expect Olympics will be held in middle east, especially Israel in the near future. Let alone Africa which is almost a waring continent

  17. Countries have to go through a very long selection process and voting to get the Olympic games.

The countries who want to host need to have lots of money, spend billions of dollars on stadiums, housing, event planners, etc. Also they take things like good climate for the athletic events and local amenities like hotels for visitors, safety for tourists, etc into consideration.

Africa is overall just too poor and has the wrong climate and in most countries has too much crime and not enough stuff built for tourists for any countries there to get the Olympics. Even if they solve the other problems- climate, altitude, etc will always be a problem.

  18. I believe the country needs to meet certain qualifications to be a host country for the olympics, and those who qualify and want to host have to host at least once before another country gets to host it again.

  19. Many African nations are too unstable to be granted the Olympics and many are also unable to afford it. These have been listed.

There is another reason: If you look at the list of cities who APPLY to host, you will not see African cities much. Obviously, if you don't try, you can't host!

  20. No African countires can afford to host them. Maybe someday South Africa, Egypt, or Morocco will be able to, though.

  21. Because to be a host country, you have to have alot of money to pay for certain things, and have facilities to host the opening ceremonies and events. And most of Africa doesn't.
