Question:

How come the PFD and EICAS does not turn on in PMDG 747?

The battery is on and the standby power is switched to auto.

  1. You need a source of AC power.  The battery supplies only the hot battery bus.  Start your APU and make sure your APU GEN is on.


  2. On a real 747, make sure the CRT selector switches are switched to NORM.  Make sure the brightness k**b isn't turned to full dim. They are on the very left side of the glare shield, left of the yoke.  BTW The co pilots PFD and ND won't come on with just the battery.

    With everything set correctly, the captains PFD, ND and upper EICAS will come on with just the battery.  

    This was how the Qantas pilot was flying when the GCU shorted and lost all it's generators and was flying on just the battery.
