Last November we flew out to California to see taping of television shows. Little did we know it would be our worst vacation ever because the writer's strike was starting up. but even more noticeable than that were the disgusting driver's. As soon as we got into the van and my dad started driving out there, someone beeped at him just because he didn't immediately go in what I say was risky opening to drive out of the freeway ending and back onto the normal streets. He got beeped at a lot for like nothing. I was just like 'wow, these people must not like my dad or something'. As we drove more and more, I realized they were all just rude. Every 1.2 seconds, you hear someone beeping there horn out there. The place is jam packed with driver's. It's not as if beeping the horn is going to do anything. For pete sake, it takes like 45 minutes to get down Sunset Boulevard to see a taping of Judge Judy that would usually take 5 mins if it weren't for all the traffic.

  1. try driving in Iraq, a RPG or roadside bomb.

  2. It's a big state, don't judge all 30 million of us based on the few hundred angelinos you ran into.

  3. LOL! Sounds like your dad can't drive in traffic. I live in California and no one honks at me. I guess i don't lolly-gag while driving. If i am going somewhere, i just go. I do have to admit, it take a certain person to be able to drive in traffic. Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. -Matt

  4. Try the east coast.  They'll literally 'scratch' by you.

    .

  5. Sounds like a walk in the park - try Boston on any weekday.

  6. I drive a big rig and yes California has some pretty rude drivers. But there are just as many rude drivers everywhere. L.A. just has too many cars and not enough asphalt.

  7. It's primarily because these people spend hours alone in their car and they see the other cars as inanimate objects rather than recognizing the human drivers. Furthermore, they get so used to zooming in and out of tight spaces that they have little patience for those who aren't used to it.

The thing is many of these drivers are perfectly normal people when they aren't in their car.

  8. I think you have answered your own question.  The traffic is so bad in LA that people get angry at nothing sometimes.  I live in LA and I have seen it as well.  Not all of us here in California are bad or inconsiderate drivers but I understand your frustration.
