  1. may be  the cord is not working and may be thelighting strike the ac/dc cord.u should by a new one.

  2. Can't beat manimal's answer, you should "best answer" it now and save time.

  3. One of your Nintendo systems survive because of sheer luck and the fact that it may have been on a circuit untouched by your surge.

As for your computer, you've just replaced the cord, which undoubtedly survived the surge anyway. At the very least, a new power supply is required. See, the surge entered the unit, took out the MOVs, and hopefully stopped there. Hopefully, for if not, you'll need to replace other components too.

Let this be a lesson to invest in a high-quality surge protector with a high joule rating for those gadgets you care about.

As an aside, barrel lighting once hit the radiator in my parent's house. Our circa-1980 Trintron jumped off the table a foot or so, and ever since, the upper right corner of the tube's had a green tinge. We lost our microwave, and our early 70's Maytag washer lost some modes, Both washer and TV are still in operation, however.
