How come the government doesn't really make minimum wage jobs so that people can afford to live on their own?

  1. It's mainly because many of the minimum wage jobs are shipped overseas or out of the country where the wages are much lower and the companies that ship them can have larger profits....


  2. It isn't the governments job to give you a job.  Or to support you, or to make sure you have health care, or to make sure you have housing...etc.

  3. It's not the governments place to make jobs, that is businesses job.

  4. It's more complicated than that. When the minimum wage is raised, that money doesn't just appear out of nowhere. The businesses now need to pay all their current employees more. If they don't have the budget for that, it can result in them not hiring any more people, or even having to lay off current employees they can no longer afford to keep.

  5. If the government would tax companies that pay wages out of the country and decrease taxes for companies in the USA with taxpayers, this would increase income and keep the money where it belongs, in citizens' pockets.

    Corporations sold out; cut their tax breaks and let them stay where they are.
