  1. That makes no sense...

    The only explanation I could give is in perception of the use of those time lengths. When you think back on time gone by, you do so in months or years not weeks. When you are looking forward to something in anticipation (usually with impatience) you do so in weeks or days...

    So when you are looking back, it is instantaneous results. It has happened. When you look forward to an event, you have to wait for that period of time to pass... So you merely associate with years as going by fast and weeks as going by slow...

  3. it's all just perception...

    phrases like "time flies" etc. reflect this notion, but time is time - perhaps reflection allows us to see a large spread of time in a few moments worth of memories, while living minute to minute can sometimes seem to take forever
