  1. lol....there is always the good and bad in every country and everyplace.

It's because they have seen a different kind of lifestyle...

  2. I dont think this is quite true......there are people that have not travelled and are still pretty happy with their country and others that are not.

In general though people who travel outside their country- and not only saudis, but most if not all the nationalities- tend to start missing things about their homeland.

But there is nothing really revealing about it or worth making an argument regarding the respective country. It is more of a psychological phenomenon.

  3. I agree with what Mintee said.  I think leaving Saudi Arabia makes Saudis appreciate what they have here.  I am from America, and there are things I miss about the US, but I also love Saudi Arabia too.  I definitely agree that the lifestyle is easier and more comfortable here.  If my husband made the same amount of money in the US, then we probably wouldn't be able to save money at all.  or, I would need to work also.

  4. although your question is generalizing and is percieved as if no saudis love or appreciate thier country while living in it (which is not true) it is actually proving a good thing:

even though saudis complain, nag and b**ch about many things in thier country (a god given right practiced by many citizens all around the world) when they taste and try living in other countries assumed to be "better" and more "developed" or "democratic" and "free" they still go back to saudi arabia...this time as a choice they made as adults after thinking and contemplating and weighing pros and cons.....the prefer to live and raise thier families in saudi arabia because now it proved to be perfect or as close as a place could be for them and thier needs...as sister mintee said (hey mintee!) life is fairly easier to manage in saudi arabia....living expenses are dramatically cheaper than in USA and UK for example (talking from personal experience that's less than 5 years), but that's the case in most Gulf countries (GCC) so they could've easily moved to our beloved UAE for instance (which by the way is a targeted destination for relocating western families from America, Australia and europe if you've noticed in the past few years) some do, but most don't...they still go back to saudi...HOME

the sense of belonging, warmth, "the big family"...are unmatched...life is not rushed here rather enjoyed for the true treasures in it...people and families...i wouldn't want to raise my son and daughter anywhere on the planet other than Jeddah...there are still bad apples scatterred here and there giving in for temptations...but not a lot...and temptations are of reasonable amounts and measures...the whole community helps each other instinctivly to protect it self and pull everything and everyone together...values, morals and faith are like the air we breath and water we drink....

we have problems and complains about the city we live in or how it's run...it's normal...every person in the world is not 100% satisfied with the place they live in cause in his/her eyes...there's always room for improvement...i know a lot of americans that complain non stop about thier country...doesn't mean they don't love it...doesn't mean that they'll pick up and leave...and that goes to anyone anywhere...if you only met saudis that "seem" as if they have nothing good to say about thier country but are still living there...wouldn't you ask your self :" if they're THAT unhappy, why wouldn't they leave...move somewhere else....why are they still living in saudi arabia?"

  5. Interesting question but need Saudis to elaborate on this one!;-)

  6. Because we are having very uncivilized law which we are calling Sharia law, we are cutting off the heads of people with a sword, very nice yes, and also we are forcing women to live like 5th century, we are very nice people yes. We are doing this to pretend we are Islamic government so that people will not becoming angry at me (I am King of Hijaz) and my family because we are acting like we own Islamic holy sites and we are allowing crusader armies to have bases in the holy land and we are very scared of the Persians but we are also very scared of our masters in the White house so now we have a big problem, if we don't let our masters in the white house attack Iran from our country bases then we will get a spanking but if we do then the Persians will also spank us, do you have a solution for me and my family? Please help us.

  7. this is a very interesting phenomena which I have as well noticed during my stay here..and possible reasons as per my understanding are.

The locals are fedup of al-saud oppressing regime, lack of education, lack of jobs opportunities which mostly go to foreign workers and foreign educated Saudis and religious police chasing their everyday life. The foreign returned Saudis love the country because the government hires them at public department at super-inflated wages to do a measly "yes sir" nodding jobs. Even if they were turning burgers at McDonald in USA, they did we some manager here deep inside official bureaucracy.

  8. that's true the people the love Saudi Arabia are the people that didn't see whats happening in Saudi Arabia these days.

the people that love it there are the people that never lived there let them live there and they will curse its laws millions of times.

  9. maybe cause they missed it so much that they got homesick.

  10. hey, i noticed that too.

it seems to have to do with the fact that saudis take their simplified life for granted.

no taxes, lenient rules and a lot of support from the government.

once they live abroad for a few years they realize how good they had it.

  11. lol @ they love ksa you mean they love the government buz they take the money from them !!

  12. Your generalistion is totally incorrect.

  13. very good question but maalesef i am not saudi...anyhow i here is your star...

  14. well I fit that catagory.. maybe you've read some of my answers before.. There's not a lot of us who answer in this particular forum

but as for me.. Knowing USA and having relatives there.. and living back and forth.. I realise how much easier it is to live here in SaudiArabia..

Things are hard living in USA now.. Inflation is way out of control. The housing market is falling apart.. Healthcare is skyrocketing. Gas is almost unreachable now. School are letting the kids down.. Moral family values are going away.. Community brotherhood is almost non existant..

Now dont get me wrong.. I love America and I love visiting. but its just hard.. I hear all my family and friends complaining and struggling just to make ends meet there.. I end up having to help them out these days.. It makes me sad.. I now have life so much easier living here in Saudi.. We have a home, we can afford our mortgage, My children and I have excellent health care, they are living an excellent moral life.. the community and family values are in tact.. All our extended family members and neighbors act like one huge family..

Although items are increasing in price daily.. Its still cheaper to live here.. Grocery items are dramatically cheaper than in USA.. Gas is just pennies to what it is there.. ..

So thats why I say I love SaudiArabia... (but you can have this dust thats been around for the past month!.. I wish it would end)
