Football as in American football. One day I would like to see other countries in the world competing for football in the olympics.

I always wondered why other countries dont play football. Does it seem dangerous to them?

  1. Our football is a fairy sport compared to Rugby and soccer

You don't see those guys wearing helmets, knee, elbow, and shoulder pads do you.

  2. The NFL is not there with good players.

It is like soccer here.   No matter what anyone says, MLS is pretty bad compared to, say, the English Premier League.  Unless they get good product, they'll never change.

  3. Because they play soccer.

  4. why dosent the rest  of the world play hurling?

its because evry country has its own uniqe aspects such as sport and they care about it as a tradition but other countrys care very little about the tradiotions of other countrys.

  5. no it just looks like a stupid sport

  6. no. its just more popular here in america

and i guess we have the money to do it 2

  7. I don't think it is because it is dangerous. They play rugby and hockey.

It is just a business like anything else. I don't think that there are enough fans for them to make money.

  8. It's only for Americans.....I wouldnt want to see it in the olympics becuase we would kill everyone. I don't think they even know the game too well over there

  9. They do - Many countries play different forms of football

    Soccer

    Rugby League

    Rugby Union

    Australian Rules

    American Football

take a look at the following youtube vid of Australian Rules Football - I think you'll see that 'danger' is not the issue

  10. Tina E, you also don't see any truly full speed collisions in those other sports, unless it's by accident.  Played football with and without pads my whole life until I was 30.  Without pads, we were crazy, reckless, rough, and there were some injuries. Most people wouldn't play with us. But, with pads, you get less careful about where you place your head, and mainly you know you can hit somebody harder because of the pads,... But, that's where the injuries usually come from, the high speed stuff.

  11. I don't think danger has anything to do with it. The fact of the matter is, like all countries, the US has it's own national sports that it prefers to watch/play.

I'm from the UK, and I get bombarded with cricket/soccer/rugby daily, but I don't like those sports. So I have to deal with getting whatever showing of NFL/NBA/MLB Sky decides to put on that weekend. I know I'm not alone either.

As for the olympics, I think it's a case of timeframe. A game of football can take around 3-4 hours, and with the olympics only lasting 3-4 weeks, that's not much time to get a decent tournament in. And besides, the rules for football are complicated, its not like diving into a pool and see who can swim to the other side quicker you know? (No offence to swimmers, it's just a comparison of time difference!)

  12. i am sorry but your football is not dangerous - with all that padding and helmets.

You want real football - check out Aussie Rules Football - no padding just real men

  13. Because it is called AMERICAN FOOTBALL and the rules were invented by an American the sport isn't even that old it was just beginning play in the late 1800s when soccer has been around before Christ, American football is slowly gaining popularity around the world but it's gonna take some time for the whole world begins to play it

Also, most of the events in the Olympics have been around for a very long time that is why most of the world plays those sports, so give it a couple hundred years and American Football just might be in there.

But also an interesting fact is that rugby is not in the Olympics, which is surprising because that is a widely played sport but I'm sure it will be in it one day

  14. All high schools in Canada have football teams and colleges / universities too, I don't know why it's not in the olympics, isn't ping pong in the olympics?

  15. There's a Canadian league and a European one and probably more, it's not too dangerous for them, alot of other countries play rugby and that's much rougher then American football..
