How come there is no sound coming out of the TV after we connected the rogers HD box?..?

So here's the thing: we purchased a sony LCD tv. then we attached the rogers HD box...but there's no sound coming out from the TV...when we watch a movie, the speakers seemed fine...soo...help anyone?...

  1. Are you using an HDMI cable?


  2. It matters what connection you are using

    Component-check to see of all 5 cables are connected, you may only have your 3 component video connections connected, but not the two audio connections, also, make sure you haven't mixed the red video connection, and your red audio connection aren't switched

    HDMI-The audio wires in the HDMI cable could be bad, check with another HDMI cable, also, some cable companies (assuming rogers is your local cable company) don't program for the HDMI port, talk to your cable company for more information

  3. you probably have the RCA audio cables switched

  4. The boxes often have an own volume setting.. Look after the volume control on the box remote control

  5. If you are using the HDMI connection, check the settings on your cable box.  Digital audio may be directed to another port by default, (usually the IR), and not the HDMI output.  The actual menu where you can find this varies by the STB manufacturer.
