Please don't give me **** like because "we're winning the war", if we were the media would be constantly "boasting" about it and the troops would be pulled out.

  1. "Only" 22 US soldiers died last month, so I guess all that rhetoric about winning in Iraq, democracy, safety and stability must be true then. Whoop it up.

It appears that the Maliki government has, at long last taken over the security of Iraq, and this offers fewer grandstanding photo/video opportunities for the US troops. I doubt anyone would be interested in seeing Iraqis fight Iraqis, and the usual alphabet news crews are probably braving it out in a hotel room in the Green Zone, sending out reports declaring Baghdad as a safer place to be even though they dare not set foot outside the hotel lobby. If I ever see an American reporter in the streets of Baghdad, I'll start believing the propaganda. Not before.

As for the British media, it's probably still too dangerous, there aren't any major offensives, and as far as human interest stories are concerned, the benefits probably don't outweigh the risks. Georgia, Russia, and America have the foreign correspondents busy enough these days.

  2. it's been going on for so long that people are getting tired of hearing about it now.

    That's what I think anyway

  3. Reporting the war only reminds people of the loss of life suffered which is not good for the repubs when coming into an election cycle. I keep hearing that we are winning bullshit when the only reason they think that is because your so called liberal media has told you so.

As a Brit it totally bemuses me that you actually have so many people in your country believing in the total fabrication that any of the MSM is liberal. They are all corporate tools used purely for an overarching right wing agenda. Wake up The Dems and Repub are both centre to right wing party's. Yes there are some left wing pol's like bernie sanders and dennis kucinich but they only associate themselves with Dems because they are trying to be heard.

AMERICA DOES NOT STAND FOR FREEDOM AROUND THE WORLD IT ONLY STANDS FOR AMERICA'S FREEDOM TO  RULE THE WORLD.     800 Military bases around the world are not needed to defend 3% of the worlds population.

Wake up you have become the fascist military imperialist's that Eisenhower warned you would become if you didn't stop the military industrial compex taking over your political process.

  4. It doesn't sell ad space.

  5. As the General Election looms ever closer. It is in the Labour Party's interests to keep the 'lid' on the Iraq War as tight as possible! In particular the casualties be they killed or wounded.

These politicians just do not care about casualties as long as  they are kept out of the spotlight.

Right now the British media have entered a phase in what is called casualty fatigue!Or put it another way viewers apathy and audience ratings!Which are influenced by the  poll ratings!Which in turn  govern revenue by large company's advertising accounts.

At the end of the day!Money!

  6. "Boasting"? About American victory? They aren't exactly well known for enjoying that.

What exactly do you want them to show you in the media about Iraq and Afghanistan right now? You want to watch some boring programs about them training the military and police forces over there?

  7. With the exception of Fox News, the television media is very liberal. CNN and the (ms)(c)NBC are both liberal slanted networks. The coverage has died down because we are going through an election and that is taking precident. People have been hearing about Iraq for quite some time now, and the ratings are much better following the campaign then the war. After the election and innaguration and what not we will hear more about Iraq again I assume.

We are winning the war. Your arguement could easily be reversed to say that if we were severely losing the war, the media would be all over that as well. The troops can't just be pulled out because we have made some progress or it would all be reversed. You can't argue with a large decrease in the number of American fatalities, and the fact that the enemies resistance is weakining everyday.

  8. "if we were the media would be constantly "boasting" about it and the troops would be pulled out. "  Are you kidding me??  The reason that you dont hear anything about the war know is two-pronged.  First of all, US citizens have short attention spans.  The war is old news to them.  Secondly, since conditions on the ground have improved steadily since the start, there in not as much "bad news" as the liberal media would like to report.

  9. because now were wining the liberal mass media would never want to report anything positive that could show bush in a good light  I dont know how you can deny our media is liberal when over 70% of our reporters are. Us wining the war does not help the liberal agenda

  10. do you really have to ask?LIBERAL MEDIA,and its not going the way its suppose to!

  11. Because there is mostly good news coming out of Iraq. If there was bombings everyday you can bet your sweet aspercreme it would be on the nightly news.

  12. Where have you been for the last 5 years?!

When there is success in the war it doesnt fit their template?!

Why do you think Bush has been able to accomplish all these things and you BEVER hear about them:

LIBERATED 50 MILLION MUSLIMS FROM TYRANNY

    Afghanistan free of Taliban Rule

    Free Elections in Afghanistan

    IRAQ free of murderous dictator

    Free Elections in Iraq

Saddam Hussein, a proven supporter of terrorism and a leader who developed and used WMD, is NO LONGER RULING A NATION!

    His two murderous sons killed

    Zarqawi Dead

75% of known AlQaeda leaders captured or killed

Lybia hands over weapons without a shot being fired

Syria craps its pants and withdraws from Lebanon after 29 years

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and UAE now allies in fight against terrorism

    Ukraine has democratic elections

Egypt has democratic elections with women voting for first time

N Korea gives up its nuclear program

9/11 Mastermind Kalid Sheik Muhammed awaiting trial

No Major Terrorist Attacks on U.S. Soil Since 9/11

  13. Well I was just reading a link from another post, that shows Obama's voting record, and one of the things he voted against that actually passed, was a law to keep anything negative about the Iraq war to be shown in the media. It actually said to only allow the news media to portray the Iraq war in a positive light. I will post that link.

  14. This country made a big mistake invading an Innocent country. It,s a little embarrassing knowing our lads are dying, not protecting but invading.Anyway whats wrong with 8 hours a day of American politics.

  15. Probably to do with the POTUS election just around the corner. No news is good news right?

  16. corruption and more disinformation ..f.p

  17. Good news isn't good for ratings.

  18. The election has taken over the media now. And, to be honest, the media would not be "boasting" about the US winning. The media is very liberal and for the democratic party. The fact the US is winning doesn't help the liberal agenda and, therefore, the media wouldn't report on it.

  19. Because it's only Muslims unarmed getting killed so it's not news. The precious Brits and Yanks are safe so no news.We all have to stop thinking of death by nationalities.Death is death does not matter what badge they wear. But when someone is humble,it seems to matter less.

Have you noticed the wall to wall coverage of the impending Hurricane on American shores.Yet 90 people died in the Caribbean and hardly any news.because they are poor brown skinned people and not as important as Americans.Things will never change....
