  1. To hide the grotesque.

  2. They are suppose to cover the face so that when they are getting electricuted no one sees there eyes pop out cuz thats always a worry.

  3. To conceal the face and head of the condemned during execution from witnesses.

I don't read much about the macabre, but there is an interesting book I read entitled "The Last Face You'll Ever See" by Ivan Solotaroff.  It's full of accounts of the personal lives of executioners and the condemned.

  4. The reason that A hood is used to cover the head of the condemned is to protect the witnesses from what they may see these are the effects that they shield the public from

    1. in many instances the teeth shatter due to the convulsions of the muscles involuntarily constricting as well as the jaw bone itself

    2. the charring of the flesh in and around were the electrodes make contact with the skin there have been occasions were the eye ball have actually exploded because the liquid inside boils

    3. in many instances the tongue is bitten off again by the muscle spasms

so as you can see if the general public saw this kind of execution how long do you think that it would still be used

or that any executions as a rule would be allowed

  5. So you don't see their contorted face.
