How come they didn't issue me a new health card only my husband?

We renencly got married and had open enrollment and they sent us the new info but they only sent my husband a card not me. Its a group plan but don't I need something with my name on it. We called and they said that I am covered.

  1. Many insurers only issue a card with the name of the policyholder on it.  The card is valid for any eligible dependent on the policy, but they won't receive a card with their name on it.

    (My current insurer does this, and also the insurer I used to work for did that.)

    If you want to confirm whether you're supposed to have a card with your own name on it, call your insurer.  Otherwise, you should just use the card with your husband's name on it.

  4. My wife and daughter are covered by my group plan but only my name appears on the insurance cards. No problems. The card only has a space for "Contract Holder Name" so they wouldn't be able to issue one with either of their names on it anyway.
