Question:

How come we, on UK & Irish answers, get so many questions about Yankee politics?

I wouldn't mind but none of the continued soap opera that is Politics in the States is of any interest to us in Europe. In fact the only interest here in the UK is as to when the Yanks will actually go it alone in those countries they wish to invade and stop dragging us in and making us pay for the privilege.

  1. Not everyone is as insular as that.

Some have broader minds and interests.

  2. They can't work it out for themselves, so the come to us for an intelligent answer.

  3. they don't seem to be able to get a comprehensive answer on their own answer site so they come onto uk and irish answers.

  4. You might not like it but US politics affects most of the world so we should be interested in a lot of it.

Also you might not be interested in it but a lot of us here (I'm in Scotland ) are.

  5. Because they all go into the English speaking section wherever in the world the Qs come from.

You don't HAVE to read/answer US questions, but I find them, and the answers to them, interesting.

  6. Sorry about dragging you in....your welcome for World War II btw.

  7. Yahoo Answers doesn't have a section for each country.I found that out the first time I went to the Philippines section and found I was stuck in the same forum. The only difference is that the more obscure the nation, the less Americans will be there.Funny, everyone else evaded your question.I thought the same thing when I first noticed all the American bashing in the C&G section. Some people don't know how this is set-up until they are on here awhile.I would find it far more interesting if there were a YA for each nation.

  8. As bigdaddy implies, Hollywood/Washington takes a lot of credit for winning the second world war single-handed.  Even in incidents where the Americans were not even present.  Since then, America has invaded about 50 countries and has not won a war.  It has removed several democratically elected governments and has taken part in terrorist activity in several other countries.  (Not my conclusions but those of an American who worked for the State Department).  The reason that we watch US politics is simple.  By making money from the already impoverished Europe, the US rose to be the only superpower.  We cannot contest that, but we do have an interest in who will have his finger on the button, especially since the eight digit code for many years during the cold war was set at 00000000, and even the cleaners knew it.

  9. You're the one always going on about the USA, like right now.  I wonder sometimes if you guys have anything else to talk about when I see half the questions in your section are about Americans.

  10. Because our government have unwittingly tied ourselves to their apron strings and the rest of NATO as well.
