How come we admire Olympians for talent and hard work but we don't see this with athletes of Peyton Manning?

Peyton Manning could win the gold medal in javelin but instead he chose to throw a football every Sunday in the Fall and early Winter. Also there is a load of NFL players who can compete in Bobsled and track such as running backs/wide recievers but we don't call them the "fastest runners in the world". Why is this the case?

  1. Because if they wanted respect they would be at the Olympics.  They just want the cash!

  2. Manning  probably doesnt want to spend everyday practing how to throw a javelin. Wide receivers may be fast, but they dont have as much stamina as olympians runners, since they run tons ofmiles everyday. But i doubt football players are FASTER(not stronger) than soccer players, since they dont change frequently or have time outs, they run to their full speed 45+ mins if not the whole game!
