Inflation has been under 5% since early Clinton.

Carter saw double-digit inflation.

Confidence? No, sentiment takes a back seat to the money supply controlled by the federal reserve banks of the USA.

We have inflation because there is very little faith in the U.S. dollar.  We may have had it under Jimmy Carter, but not the the extent that we have had under george w bush.  The bush administration has seen worse inflation than the Carter administration.
