How come when I download something on the Sims 2 it shows up on the game but as something I already have?

I download things and they do show up on the game but they show up as something I already had before. I don't know why that keeps happening?

If you are talking about clothing and hair it's because you don't have the mesh. Content that requires a new 3d model to work will generally say "mesh required." On Modthesims2.com for example the links to required meshes will be at the bottom of the post. Other sites vary. Sometimes there is a separate link to a separate site or separate page. You need to make sure you get the mesh if you are downloading something that needs one that's not included in the game.

If you are talking about objects it's because you don't have CEP.

The CEP or Color Enable Package enables recolours for Maxis items that, by default, only had one colour option. You need the CEP to see custom objects. You get it here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.ph...

You need to go back to the website where you got the downloaded object and get the mesh.
