How come when I pet my hamster It poops on me?

One day my dad bought me a hamster.I picked her up and pet her then came out 3 poops ,I didn't know why .I was totally yucked by my hamster's p**p.I was like , ew ,ew ,ew, ew ,ew!So I put her back in her cage and never petted her ever again.

My dwarf hamster does it all the time, I think it is because they sleep all day, so when they are awake and holding them they need to p**p because they are awake.

It is pretty normal for hamsters to p**p when they are being petted. The best thing is to just remove it and clean your hands with a mild disinfectant. I know it feels yuck but go ahead and pet your hamster without any reservations, my hamster used to p**p too but once she got used to me, then she was very relaxed and stopped doing it.

Hamsters are very hard to house train, so I cannot guarantee that your hamster would stop pooping anywhere she wishes. One trick to avoid the p**p getting into your hands is to try to get some paper towels or something and take her out the cage and put her on those for a few minutes so she can pee and poo on them and then you can start holding her and petting her.
