How come when I send text to my girlfriend who has at&t she hardly ever gets my text?

I have verizon and my girlfriend has at&t we both just got fairly new phones. For some reason sometimes when i send her text she doesn't get them for ten to fifteen minutes or not at all. I send text to my mom dad sister and step mom all the time and they get my text almost instantly. Its starting to get very frusterating that she doesn't get my text. I also have another question that may be the source of the problem. My cousin as well as myself have the JUKE and he says that sometimes people dont get his text either. Might it be something with the phone? Or maybe is the services? Please help

make sure you type in the area code cuz thats what happened to me until i started typing in the area code. good luck
