How come when I try to call one of my friends at my mom's house, it says that the call can't be completed?

I tried to call one of my friend's cell phone at my mom's house and every time I call, I get this automatic voice that says "Sorry, you call cannot be completed".

This never happens at my dad's house, they are always able to pick up there.

I go with the joker.  It is known as a "local toll" depending on where you live the toll maybe a flat charge or per minute.

try 1+area code and see what happens

I know where I live if i call my friend at 881-**** I get the same message you are getting...but when I dial 1-630-881-**** it works

well maybe your moms phone doesn't work properly. or your friends phone is turned off.
