This season no one in the Moto GP class has won a pole position and a first place. How come?!

  1. Could be that pole only requires one good lap and a race is so much more.

Edwards doesn't seem to take off that well - which is odd 'cos I think he's a great rider and I think they have "launch control" on these bikes so that takes some of the stress out of a quick getaway.

Mind you Troy Corser got his 40th Pole in WSBK last week - he must have more watches than a spiv in Soho!!

  2. The Kwack team are grinning ear to ear in the wet, but only after  the wet racing god od West did not bin it whilst coming out of the Melbourne Hairpin. He was so lucky to save that!!!!

As to your question however, its luck of the draw babes!

Nice to see you back on the " RACING " questions!

  3. Its just a coincidence. Race tires differ from qualifiers, so someone that has a good set up on race tires but was unable to run well on his qualifiers could conceivably win from a little ways back. Someone that didnt quite get their bike set up on race tires, but puts in one super fast lap on qualifiers can maybe get the pole. It just happens sometimes.

  4. Well racing for the win is a lot different than racing for the pole.  First off there's a bunch more guys racing with you during race day.  Maybe the guy doesn't have what it takes to draft with another car.  He possibly may not have the skills to pass a car on the outside.  Ryan Newman always wins poles in NASCAR but he doesn't have the skills to race with the other drivers, so he always ends up not winning the race.
