How come when i ask a question on yahoo questions i loose five points?

Isnt the whole point of the site to ask and answer questions? Why am I getting points deducted? It doesnt seem to make any sense at all?

  1. that's how it is... you loose points by asking a question and earn points by answering questions and by visiting the site.  That's the point system....

  4. The whole point of Yahoo! Answers is to answer and ask questions, along with adding and deducting points.

  6. It's just the way the points system on Yahoo! Answers is set up. Answering questions is considered as contributing to the knowledge being shared on this site, and asking them is considered the opposite.

    Everyone who asks a question gets 5 points deducted for each question. The whole idea behind this is that you need to answer on this site, while possibly asking questions in the process.
