How come when i burn a dvd the dvd is out of screen on tv?

Question

so i burnt a dvd and the file looks fine on the PC but when i play the dvd on my dvd player the outer portions of the video are out of the screen. Is there a reason this is happening? possibly resolution problems or something like that?

i burnt the dvd using nero 7

Lots of variations. TV safe area, 4:3, 6:9

It may be a setting on either or TV or DVD player. Look under video settings for something like "Letterbox 4:3" or "Widescreen 16:9" and experiment with it.
