How come when i make a playlist on my...ipod nano...?

i end up not even wanting to listen to those songs anymore..it takes so long to do...then I'm just like d**n i missed some songs and its annoying.. is there a way where i can put a bunch of artists in a playlist...save it...then shuffle it?? i have over 1,000 songs...so shuffle...it's just not working out...it goes through all those songs and most the time the ones I'm in the mood for the most never show up. so is there a way i can put some songs into a category then shuffle?

you can shuffle a playlist on your itunes but not on your ipod. i knoww i wish they had that too but they dont. well if you are looking for shuffle on itunes, go to the playlist on itunes and look in the bottom left and the shuffle button is one of the buttons, i believe its the second from the right.
