  1. they may contain things that raise your blood pressure that can make your heart beat fast

  2. great observation.

not clear what you take, but there are certainly over the counter some  meds you can buy that have adrenaline like properties which increases the heart beat.

As far as sleeping tablets, for a start why would you need to take them?? Most people dont.  In other words, the drug effect has to be interpreted according to the full clinical picture. Which includes everything from age, to the type of sleeping pill.

In short, yes there is a good explanation, but no, its not ethical to give you a yes or no answer without more info.

BTW , the leaflet that comes with the pills often explains a lot.

  3. Is it prescribed? That way the doctor knows what dosage to prescribe they check your blood pressure and weigh you.

If its from counter maybe your taking to much for your weight.

  4. Some people, (including me) are sensitive to the  stimulant effects of  decongestants found  in a lot of non-prescription sinus and cold meds and get that racing heart thing. The only ingredient in plain  Sudafed, for instance, is the  decongestant  pseudoephedrine, an ingredient used to make meth.
