How come whenever you see someone crying on TV, the camera always zooms in on them or stays on them?

Isn't crying a private moment? Like when someone is interviewing someone and they start to crack, the camera zooms in on their face so that we can see the tears.

Why is this?

  1. I've notice that exact thing.  It happens EVERY time!  Do they teach this in cameraman school?
