  1. I guess friends of mine are in deep trouble.

    They live in Rural Area of my State.

    They have Deer that think they are pets of my friends. The Deer come out of the woods and stand in the open field as if they're the property owners. Of course, my friends are not pleased when The Deer chow down on their Garden Vegetables.

  2. Ironic isn't it

  3. Animals should not be killed for sport.

  4. Yeah, go on and try to keep a deer as a pet...good luck with that. Wild animals belong in the wild or deep fried.

  5. wild animals cannot be kept as pets largely in part that it has a chance to contract a disease while in captivity and also has a great chance of escaping and mixing back in with wild animals; if this happens it can/will be devastating to a population of animals in the wild.  This is why people should never take a wild animal home for a pet.

  6. Not sure what state you live in.  But in Missouri you can have deer, just like cattle or horses.  You can have elk too,  the biggest difference is transporting across state lines is much harder due to chronic wasting disease in the wild herd.  My parents currently have about 40 deer with 17 fawns on the ground right now.  It is a blast to bottle feed them.

  7. because wild animals do not belong in cages. They are dangerous to keep as pets. a deer head came from a dead deer.

  8. It's easy when you elect idiot lawyers who don't know jack about anything to decide how you can live your life.

  9. because some things just are not pets, like monkeys.

    and deer are food. so there for you kill them to eat them.

    and not everyone puts them on their wall, and when they do its

    because they are proud of it.

    duh?

  10. Why would you want a pet deer when you can buy a Russian baby and keep it as a pet?  They are a lot cleaner (usually), can almost always talk, and you can even teach them to do basic manual labor and make money for you.

    I know this one place that is having a sale right now - buy one, get one free.  E-mail me and I'll put you in touch with them.

  11. Because they are wild creatures and deserve to live free in the great outdoors.* They should never have allowed them to be confined in Zoo's either, because it is unnatural, besides they were born to be free.*

  12. Because unless your killing your pets its more safe for the animal.

  13. Wild animals are dangerous disease ridden and unpredictable

    Allowing animals to come on your property unmolested is not even close to keeping them as pets

  14. That law is actually to protect the deer and humans. It is never good for wildlife or humans for wild animals to become habituated to human interaction.

    For an example, attacks on humans and their pets is increasing over much of the US because they are being habituated to human activity. Most of this is simply because humans are now living in what used to be very wild areas and the humans are not presenting a threat to them on a daily basis. Other reasons is that people are actually feeding these animals. Wild animals see humans as either an enemy to be avoided or a food source to be exploited. There is no middle ground when it comes to wildlife interactions with humans.

  15. Well some people farm raise deer to sell for meat. But wild deer are not allowed to be pets simply of the danger to people. Even “tame” deer have attacked people. And yes deer have killed people. Here is an example;

    Here is a story of one person who wanted to keep a deer for a pet.

    Here is another;

    This news story gives good reason why not to have them as pets;

    Wild animals are just that wild. Even when raised from new born and hand fed they still have that wild instinct. This is why people who have raised, bears, lions and large apes have been injured or killed by them. You see they can be nice to you until one day they “go off” on you. Deer are also highly affected by the rut, which is mating season. All year long a pet male deer can be docile, but come the rut it can attack you or even try to mount you. Again the nature of wild animals.

    As said by others deer can carry diseases and parasites.

    But despite all that you can legally buy a deer from a game farm and raise it if you obtain the necessary permits to do so.

    I guess too many people think a deer is like a Bambi character but they are not. Like any wild animal they can be and have been dangerous.

    So you can see killing one for food is not as dangerous as keeping one as a pet.

  16. Well one is dead...one is wild and wild flip the h**l out to get out of your house probably smashing all your c**p and causing a ruckus...deer are for eating and showing off their dead heads...not for petting.

  17. In some states its legal to keep deer as pets, but they don't make good pets because they haven't been domesticated.  My Uncle "adopted" an orphaned baby deer and fed it and raised it in his yard.  Then one day it suddenly attacked him for no known reason, slashing at him with its hooves.  He had to have it put down.

  18. Because it is a wild animal and not meant to be a pet!
