How come you never see an American Indian with a beard?

Do they still have to shave?

Why didn't they invent alcohol, and had little use of metal (not that it's a bad thing)

And why is their religion so zen-like and peaceful and one with the Earth, yet it glorified war and bravery, killing so much (before the white man came)?

  1. You know, native american men without any beards. s**y. I don't think I need to say any more about that.

They are obviously smarter than the white man in regards to alcohol, white men get just as ill from it.

As far as the use of metal, there was not so much call for it and the community didn't put a strain on the environment like steel plants and exhaust from cars does. Oh, yes, and bullets and guns. Yeah, those are really helping things out.

White men claimed to be religious and loving and came and proved it was just a hoax to control the masses and guilt them into handing over their money to the church.

I just don't think you get life.

  2. All native American men are capable of growing some facial hair, some more than others. Many tribes developed the tradition of plucking facial hair as it came in so that in later years they didn't need to shave. In later years they shaved as other people do but it is still very traditional to be clean shaven. Native Americans see facial hair as being ugly or a sign of being a lesser human.

Native American religion is not so peaceful and at one with the Earth as you think. Their attitude is that the Great Spirit gave them the Earth to take what they need, the seeming balance come from their not over hunting or over using the environment in most cases. There are cases where they over hunted or over used the land and ended up destroying the natural balance. Those tribes ended up moving to a new area, displacing the tribe that was there through warfare and starting the process all over again.

  3. Some Native Americans do need to shave. There are also non-Native Americans That's about all there is to say about that, I guess. Who don't grow facial hair.

Several kinds of beer and alcoholic beverages originated in the Americas with the Native Americans. One good example is Tequila, which began as a beer made from the Agave plant.

Some Native Americans did work metal. Not all of them did.

There were many different religions across the Americas. The majority of them wer hardly Zen-like. Similarly, plenty of tribes were rather peaceful and non-violent.

It seems that you're thinking of the archetypical Native American we see in movies and books, which is really more description of Plains Native Americans. While these people did not appear to drink alcohol, use metal, or need to shave all that often, they are not representative of Native Americans as a whole.

  4. they have beards. my uncle is one and has a beard

  5. Yes, they shave. There are many Aerican Indian movie stars who have sported beards.

They did not invent alcohol because they had their piece pipes. This was long before alcohol was even a mainstream product.

They had very little use of metals as they used the nature  around them to meet their needs. Bones , sharp rocks, stone arrowsheads etc could be easily found in or created from nature.

Yes, they were very warlike but their wars always came when other tribes encroached or tried to occupy their lands.

  6. that's a good question.

i respect their love for nature and animals as i do, too.

  7. Native Americans come in different heights, and racial features.  Native Americans on the north west coast sometimes had curley hair and beards.  They can't be put in one group.  Google the Kennewick Man.

  8. i know an indian with a beard. a very long beard.

  9. Maybe because 500 nations of indigenous people were exterminated before there was an "America"?  I don't know, but I'll bet if you go out west,  you'll see some with beards if you really looked.  Maybe they felt beards were hard to keep clean...?  Or perhaps the women did not like beards, so they wouldn't grow them...? (I think this is the primary reason, as appearance is very important in attracting women).

Depending on which nation you are referring to, they had other forms of entertainment, such as peyote, as someone mentioned already.

As far as their "religion" is concerned, I think it is more a way of life, rather than a religion, which is interesting, because religions seem to encourage people go out and kill others on the pretext of conversion.   I haven't read much about them having one religion or another, just a belief system that revered nature.  But that could just be American folklore for all I know.

I guess with them it was the typically male thing to be brave and conquer others.  I mean after you kill all the game that's needed, what else is there for the men to do?

  10. Most American Indians do not have alot of body hair.  Yes, many of them shave.

    Uh they had peyote???  ;-)

Most men of any age, race, religion, past, present and probably even the future glorify war.  Why are men such war-mongers?  Are not all religions including christianity somewhat 'Angel of destruction', with one hand outstretched in peace while the other clutches a knife?

Slavery was also quite common throughout history on most continents.

  11. Some Native Americans had it in their genetic makeup that they didn't grow facial hair. Because of that, they didn't shave their faces. They probably looked upon fermented berries as poisonous and didn't partake of it. What use did they have for metal when bone, wood and stone served so much better? And the only fighting they did was the usual squabble over water, game, women and food. They believed the earth belonged to all and had a live and let live philosophy but if it became necessary to fight, they did, man to man, and never killed women and children. (They took them captive and as slaves.)

  12. what type of a question is this dude ....
