  1. very common!!!

think of how many people u have ever seen wearing glasses.

chances are at least half are far sighted.

  2. It's very common for people over the age of 40 to develop a form of farsightedness. I am over 40 but haven't developed it myself. Apparently, my being nearsighted has been canceling out its effects so I don't need reading glasses.

  3. Most stats I have read say that about 25% of the population is farsighted and about 33% are nearsighted.

If you are having difficulty seeing near objects you could be farsighted or presbyopic depending on your age.  Farsightedness (Hyperopia) can occur at any age and your eye may be able to accomodate for it so correction may not be necessary for mild amounts of it.  Presbyopia usually occurs after age 40.

Both conditions are treated the same manner, but have have different causes.  The best way to know if you are farsighted or not is to have an eye exam.

  4. This condition is very common i'm far sighted myself and new glasses are in order.

  5. Slightly less common than short-sightedness, but if you say you may be going long-sighted it's probably presbyopia, which is very, very common. Chances are that a lot of middle-aged people you pass every day who aren't wearing glasses at the time, wear reading glasses.
