Question:

How common is it to use a golf glove for both hands?

I have only been playing for about a year. I'm a lefty but play golf right handed. I've only been using a glove for my left hand, but I've been getting a lot of blisters on my right hand. I'm thinking of starting to use two gloves. Is this common? Any pros use two gloves?

  1. First off you shouldn't be getting blisters at all on your right hand.  This is telling me you are gripping way too hard.  loosen your grip to where it feels like you're barely gripping the club at all.  Gripping too hard tightens your forearm muscles causing inconsistent swing plane, people tend to swing with their arms not their shoulders when gripping too hard.  Loosen your grip and you will notice more consistent swings and way more distance.

I don't know of anyone that wears two gloves on tour.  Freddy Couples I believe still doesn't even wear one at all.  Bottom line is that if you are getting blisters on either hand you are gripping the club too hard.

  2. MikeT is on it. Dude, do yourself a big favor and take your clubs to a pro shop and get them checked out. You probably need them re-gripped. If you get blisters it is because of your grips. Friction causes blisters and the cause of friction is trying to hold on to your old hard smooth grips. Go to a proshop and ask them to fit you for grips and then buy them and do it yourself. Click on the link below and it will show you how to do it. You DO NOT need a vice you can do it just as easily by pushing the clubhead against your foot on the ground. Get a couple extra grips than you need because you are probably gonna destroy a couple but once you do it you will save so much money in the long run. Also, there are players who wear two gloves but I dont see the point because you lose feel.

  3. You probably have a gripping error, so get that checked out.  I only wear two gloves if it's cold out because I have circulation problems in my hands.  In the meantime,  you should tape your fingers where the blisters are

  4. The previous answers are correct.  You're probably holding the club too tightlyand you need new get new grips for your clubs.

That having been said, if you want to wear gloves on both hands, there is nothing wrong with it nor is there a rule that says you can't.

  5. I have seen very few people with two gloves.  Usually hackers or retired old man.  There should be no reason to wear two gloves.  If you're developing blisters on your right hand, then you're doing something wrong, gripping too hard, not swinging smoothly, manipulating the clubs, not getting good solid impact (fat, top, toe, shank) which all produce too much frictions.
