I am aware that this is an Irish name, but is it a common one or not? I was a bit bored the other day so I typed my name into google and found something about a girl named Leslie Molseed who was murdered in Yorkshire in the 70's. I've never met anyone with my surname, so I wondered what the odds were that this girl and I were related.

  1. There are very few listed with this name on ancestry.com.

The Scottish and English have a few, and the US listings have Ireland and England listed as place of birth for some.

  2. I have NEVER heard that name before! It sounds more scottish than Irish! I am from the south of Ireland...it might be more common in the north where there is a more scottish influence!

  3. I have lived in Ireland since I was 2 and have never met or heard of anyone of that name.

  4. Very unusual. Who told you it was Irish? More English or Scottish I would say. Many people in America wish to be identified with the Irish and most are not. I would look this up on ancestry .com or some place similar. I don't think you are Irish.
