I want to join the mafia but I'm Dominican. And in order to join, you either have to be Italian or have a Italian last name.

So how common is the Last name Diaz in Italy?

  1. Not very.  It's more Spanish.

  2. why do you want to join the mafia?

Being a dominican you should not have difficulties to find a  local criminal organization.

    PS. X andreaq.

    you are confusing the generals!

Diaz was the general who  defeated the austrians..and did a great job. He was  a new type of leader ( for the first time he considered the soldier as "a man" who needed some rest, he took care of their families soliciting laws to help them, etc)

He did not lose his job and was given the title of Duke of the Victory.

  3. Diaz is a Spanish surname.  I won't add more.

  4. There are 1650 Diaz in Italy , and 114 Diaz families are registered in the white pages  (from Italian white pages website) , mainly in Eastern Piedmont, Lombardy (Milan area) and Veneto region, and in Rome. Another cluster is in Naples. From this cluster comes probably Armando Diaz a famous Italian General in world war I

While the origin may be  Spanish, since 1600 and the 30 years war many Spanish families relocated in Milan and became Italian. Naples and the two sicilies kingdom was a Bourbon (Spanish Bourbon) Kingdom and many nobles were of Spanish descent (Ortigosa, Agnoletto, Diaz, Velasquez, Enriques: still well known names in Italy).

Edit (after your mafia edit): you will not be able to join in any case. Mafia is from Sicily. Italian Diaz from Piedmont, Rome or Neaples. If you are from Neaples you may try camorra, but they have the trend to kill you in horrible ways when you fail. If you are from Piedmont, well, just study your grandgrandfather mess in Caporetto, and why he has lost his job

  5. Diaz is a Spanish name, so not very common.
